ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Crow and Cat is a mixed-media drawing by artist Kathleen Coyle, created by layering charcoal and acrylic paint. This piece is part of a series of bold, graphic works that feature imagery of crows. Coyle notes, "I have always been fascinated by crows...In my work they represent strength and individuality."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Edmonds School District.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Kathleen Coyle is a Seattle-based artist who creates textiles, mixed media artworks, and jewelry.
Coyle attended Kent State University as a Design and Craft major from 1975 to 1977. In the summer of 1977, she traveled around the United States before landing in Seattle. In 1982, she graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts in Textile Design.
