Salt Marsh is an exuberant work of large gestural forms and vibrant colors by the late Northwest artist Kenneth Callahan.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Northwest artist and curator Kenneth Callahan (1905-1986) created expressive paintings and murals in a distinct regional style influenced by Asian art, Northwest history, and nature. He was an important figure in the Northwest art school of the 1930s and 40s. Callahan was honored with a Washington State Governor's Arts and Heritage Award in 1983.
