Water Garden #1, 1987

Sherrie Wolf
(American, born 1952)

Location: Ridgetop Middle School, Silverdale

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Water Garden #1 is part of artist Sherrie Wolf's series of etchings that highlight the reflective quality of water and the beauty of a lush garden. She created the piece using spitbite, an etching technique. In this process, strong acid is painted directly onto the copper plate used to print the image. The acid "etches" the plate, which is then loaded with ink and transferred to paper. This process allows her to create a sense of fluidity, movement, and reflection.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Central Kitsap School District.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
