(American, born 1936, died 2009)

Location: Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, Lacey

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Wild Flowers, Salmon La Sac is part of late artist James Sahlstrand's series "Photographs of Washington State." He produced the photographs over the course of a year. He noted, " I attempted to photograph in as many geographical areas of the state as possible: the ocean, mountains, forests and the many aspects of the state east of the Cascades. I was in favor of the decision to not limit the work to any local area but, rather, to explore the various qualities of Washington as a whole." The title refers to Salmon La Sac, a wilderness area and campground near Cle Elum Lake in Central Washington.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Northshore School District.
