Location: Washington State Arts Commission, Olympia
ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Artist Steve Gillman created this outdoor installation for Margaret Mead Elementary School. The piece is comprised of two polished basalt stones. Of his work, Gillman notes, "I make things to be touched, to walk into, to sit on. They are made for lingering. They tell us something about the place. They speak of people or events or silence. They energize, they quiet."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Lake Washington School District.
