ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Rose Matrix V is part of artist David Haidle's 'Rose Matrix' series. The series combines flower imagery with computer-generated grids and schematics. The artworks show us the complex designs that you can find in seemingly simple natural forms.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Kelso School District.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

David Haidle is most known for his Rose Matrix series that combines computer graphics and traditional lithography printing.
A native of Spokane, Eastern Washington, Haidle studied graphic design at Spokane Valley Community College, and continued his studies in painting and printmaking at Portland State University and Pacific Northwest College of Art (both in Portland, Oregon). He served in the U.S. Armed Forces as an illustrator from 1966-69, in Vietnam and Europe. He currently lives and works in Portland, Oregon, where he co-owns the publishing company Seed Faith Books.
