Powder is part of artist Richard Wilson's "River Series," created between 1974 and 1975. This piece features three subtly distinct shades of lavender. The minimal abstract composition plays with the interaction of geometric forms.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Pierce College.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Richard Wilson is a Redding, California-based artist. He creates minimal abstract paintings that play with color and spatial relationships. He notes, "My work is informed by a kind of equilibrium between what I see as 'human nature' and 'landscape nature.'"
Wilson is a Professor Emeritus of Art at Shasta College in Northern California. He holds Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from California State University, San Jose.
