ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Military Images is an enamel mural created by artist John Killmaster for the Aberdeen-Montesano Armory. He chose imagery related to the history of the National Guard. He made the piece by first creating silkscreens based on drawings. He then screen printed enamel paint onto the panels and fired them in layers using a kiln. He then added painted and airbrushed elements.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Military Department.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Idaho-based artist John Killmaster creates paintings, ceramics, and enamel artworks. He served as a professor of art at Boise State University in Idaho from 1970 to 1997. He earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan in 1969. Killmaster was honored with the Idaho Governor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts in 1978.
