ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Beach is a landscape painting by artist Michael Brophy. It features rich colors and gestural brush strokes. It is part of the artist's body of work that explores man's relationship to nature. He notes, "I feel that the way of life here in the Northwest is very much defined by its relation to the outdoors… How we perceive our surroundings, its uses and our place within is of particular interest to me." The beach is often a place we go for recreation, and perhaps take for granted. How does this serene image change the way you think about our local beaches?
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Seattle Community Colleges.
