ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Artist Sherrie Wolf created the print Pond using the "spit-bite" etching technique. In this printmaking method, she painted nitric acid onto a printing plate to create controlled etching. The etched areas are then loaded with ink, which transfers to paper when printed. She used many different plates to create the colorful imagery. She notes, "My intention in this etching Pond is to convey a remembered experience of how water responds to an interruption, and its highly reflective atmospheric effects. The infinite abstract forms found in water suggest and inspire other interpretations."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Ocosta School District.
