ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Artist Terry Reed took this infrared image in Montana in 1974.
Reed likes infrared photography because it captures the glow of radiant energy not visible by the human eye. Describing how infrared film enhances the image, Reed notes: "that halo around each tree...is like an aura, the personal glow of each individual in the group. This image has a personal symbolism for me about accepting what I am and being what I am."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Department of Natural Resources.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Terry Reed is a Seattle-based photographer whose work explores form, light and color in landscape, still life, and abstracted imagery. In his own words: "We don't need color, we don't need a full spectrum of visible light to feel the message. We need an inner stillness so we can hear our heart's song."
