Search for Identity, 1994
Peter Goin
(American, born 1951)
Location: Skagit Valley College - Whidbey Island, Oak Harbor
ABOUT THE ARTWORK
'In Search of Identity' is part of artist Peter Goin’s series “Mural Narrative Photograms.” This piece features the shadows of human figures, surrounded by paper cut-outs to tell a story. Ttwo large crouching figures hold their arms extended. Smaller figures jump, climb, and fall around the larger ones.
A photogram is created without using a camera. Objects are placed directly onto photo-sensitive paper. Then a bright light is used to expose and darken the paper around each object’s outline.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Oak Harbor School District.
