ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Stories is a constructed paper sculpture by artist Manya Shapiro that expresses the artist's interest in quilts, books, and handmade paper. She describes the layered book pieces as containers that hold memories, dreams, and ideas, and notes "we could all project out stories onto the piece."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Bremerton School District.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Portland, Oregon-based fiber artist Manya Shapiro combines traditional techniques with non-traditional materials to create abstract and conceptual artworks. She was born in Seattle, Washington and attended the University of Washington.
