Harlow Morgan
(American, born 1957)

Location: Washington State Arts Commission, Olympia

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

To create ‘The Secret' artist Harlow Morgan combined monotype printmaking with painted elements. This piece is part of her body of figurative artworks she terms “compassionate realism.” Describing her imagery, she notes, “They are tangible manifestations of my thoughts, emotions and reactions to past and present experiences. Although they are quite personal to me, I believe that they possess a universal quality, that what they are about holds a certain common thread known to people of different cultures, different backgrounds." Monotypes are unique prints created by painting inks directly onto a printing plate.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Seattle School District.
