Shimmering Wetlands, 2014

Becky Knold
(American)

Location: The Evergreen State College, Olympia

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Shimmering Wetlands is an abstract painting by artist Becky Knold. She notes that, “Perhaps it is a particular quality of the light on a foggy, Pacific Northwest afternoon, or the water’s calm reflections on the surface of a pond, or the shimmer of the wetlands at dusk. Or, just as often, it could be the striking and unique character of rocks, mountains, or trees that becomes my focus. . . This is what I want to paint—not the ‘realistic image’, but one that portrays something of the inner spirit and mystery of what I see.”

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with The Evergreen State College.
