ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Artist Goodwin Harding captured the photograph Haystack Rock, Pacific City on the Oregon Coast. He used a platinum/palladium method to print the image. This process gives the photograph its warm, rich tones and range of light and shadow. Haystack Rock is an example of a “sea stack” landform shaped by waves and wind.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Department of Corrections.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Oregon-based artist Goodwin Harding takes landscape, portrait, and documentary photographs. Many of his images capture the Oregon Coast, where he has lived since 1970.
Harding received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He studied with photographer Minor White at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
