ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Artist Sandra Robishaw created the wall relief sculpture Lesson in Patience #899 for Everett High School. Comprised of layered ceramic tiles, the curves of the design reference the shape of the auditorium where it is installed. She notes, "I created an illusion of 'weaving' these bands in an out of the white clay grids to give movement and interest to the work. The textures in the piece were achieved by using a carved clay cylinder and rolling it across the surface. The colors in this work were inspired by the colors I perceived in the Northeast during my visit to the site."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Everett School District.
