ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Artist Charles Palmer based the serene landscape in Grouse Creek on a small creek in Eastern Washington. Grouse Creek runs near Deer Lake, located north of Spokane on Highway 395. Palmer notes, "It was painted with the idea to capture the morning light and the seclusion of the location."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Spokane School District.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Spokane, Eastern Washington-based artist Charles Palmer creates impressionistic landscape paintings.
Palmer received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Boston University in 1965. He received a Master of Fine Arts degree from California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland in 1967. He moved to Spokane in 1968, where he served as an assistant professor of art and art history at Fort Wright College until 1981. He also taught art at the Spokane Art School.
