Milky Way, 1981
James Pink
(American, born 1945)
Location: Office of the Washington State Auditor, Olympia
ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Milky Way is part of artist James Pink’s series of artworks featuring a wolf lured by candy bars. He composed the wolf and the shadowed areas using layers of energetic marks. The colors of an underpainting are faintly visible beneath the wolf’s fur. The imagery comments on our society’s relationship to the environment. He notes that the wolf “represents the natural and the beautiful.”
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Northshore School District.
