ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Late artist Chris Sublett captured this photograph of combine harvesters working in a field of wheat. A combine is a piece of farming equipment that reaps, threshes, and winnows grain crops. This image is part of his body of work documenting Eastern Washington landscape and agriculture.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Bellingham School District.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Late artist Chris Sublett (1938-2017) created photographs, drawings, jewelry and sculptures. Sublett grew up in Quincy, Central Washington and attended Quincy High School. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Long Beach. He received a Master of Fine Arts degree from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan. He taught at Eastern Washington University in Cheney for nearly thirty years, retiring in 2002.
