ABOUT THE ARTWORK
XO (Cuervo Gold) is a mixed-media sculpture created by artist Susan Nininger. It is part of her body of "Costume Sculpture." This piece features a gold bathing suit circled by a lifebuoy.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Department of Fisheries.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Susan Nininger is a Los Angeles-based artist and costume designer. Her artworks, which she terms "costume sculptures" are wearable pieces that incorporate found objects, ceramics, and textiles. She studied at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). She completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque in 1974. She received a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Washington in Seattle in 1976.
