ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Artist Donald Barrie's Wy'east (Mount Hood) is a six-panel, 50 feet long, landscape mural. It shows a panoramic view of the landscape surrounding Mount Hood, a dormant volcano located in northern Oregon state. The historic Multnomah people of the Portland basin referred to the peak as "Wy'east."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Evergreen School District.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Realist painter and muralist Donald Barrie captures the subtle details and formal relationships found in city scenes and sweeping landscapes. A faculty member at Seattle Central College, and founder of the Pelican Bay Artists' Cooperative. Barrie lives and works in Seattle, Washington.
