ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Ashes to Ashes is a wooden wall sculpture by artist Stuart Nakamura, who notes that this piece was created as "a statement about the passage of time, a concept which I often relate to the study of the desert." Conveying sunrise and sunset through painted shadows, and cracks formed over time by water flowing over rock, this piece examines change and impermanence.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Bethel School District.
