ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Artist David Robbins captured Self Portrait with Astronaut at the Kennedy Space Center in Titusville, Florida. This image is part of an ongoing project he calls "Strange Presence – An Eccentric Travelogue." The project documents his travels around the world and his interest in the comic, ironic, tragic, and ambiguous.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Highline School District and Military Department.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

David Robbins is a Seattle-based fine art and editorial photographer. His travel and documentary photographs have appeared in the National Geographic Traveler and The New York Times Magazine.
Born in Massachusetts, Robbins was fascinated by the landscape of the American west, and travelled around the country for two years after high school. He returned to New England and briefly studied photography at community college. He then moved to Bellingham, Northwestern Washington, where he ran a photography workshop.
