ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Saxophone Quartet is a painting by artist Fred Sodt. It features richly contrasting colors and layered images of a saxophone. He composed the overlapping images to "give a visual sensation that would be the equivalent to the sensation of listening to music." He painted from direct observation, arranging brightly colored paper around the saxophone to create colored reflections.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Brewster School District.
