ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Misty Road is part of artist Robert Demar's series of black and white photographs called "American Camp Impressions." Images from this series were taken at the American Camp National Park on San Juan Island in Puget Sound. The series depicts seasonal changes in the landscape. Demar notes, "it is my hope that my intimate encounter with this small piece of nearly unspoiled nature will provide the viewer an opportunity for some peaceful contemplation."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Kahlotus School District.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Photographer Robert Demar captures images that celebrate nature and the beauty of the Pacific Northwest landscape.
Demar was born in California and moved to Seattle as a young boy. He started taking photos and working in his own dark room in the 1970s. He has been based on San Juan Island, in North Puget Sound, Western Washington, since 1989.
