Green Man, 1996
Tucker Petertil
(American, born 1948)
Location: Montesano Junior-Senior High School, Montesano
ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Artist Tucker Petertil creates works of art informed by his love of music, his interest in spirituality, and the experience of temporarily losing his sight. He created Green Man after producing a photo collage of face emerging from a bed of leaves. He notes, "After creating this first piece I discovered that there is a long history of forest creatures or gods called the Green Man. I liked the idea of doing the face with mosaic tile to see how much detail I could get. I think of tile mosaics like a computer monitor with really low resolution, like one dot per half inch."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Montesano School District.
