ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Lyrical Spirit is a suspended sculpture created by artist John Rogers. It is located in the lobby of the Transalta Commons at Centralia College. It is made from a curved aluminum pipe and leaf forms made from dichroic glass. This type of glass contains multiple colors that change depending on light and the viewer's position. The artist notes, “The sculptural form echoes the curves of the balcony and adds to the lyrical energy in the space."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Centralia College.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Portland, Oregon-based artist John Rogers creates large-scale sculptures for public and private spaces. His colorful artworks are made from a variety of materials including metal, glass, ceramics, stone, cement, and plastic. He graduated from Portland State University in Portland, Oregon.
