A Gesture for Planetary Alignment, 2012
Luke Blackstone
(Canadian, born 1951)
Location: Central Washington University, Ellensburg
ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This work links the creative spirit of engineer and artist Leonardo da Vinci with Central Washington University's engineering students. The artwork invites students to assume the posture of da Vinci's Vitruvian Man, activating a solar powered motor that pushes three tinted glass discs around a ring, resulting in a change of spatial relationships between symbols for engineering and life.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Central Washington University.
