Mary Iverson
(American, born 1966)
Location: Lake Washington Institute of Technology, Kirkland
ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Mary Iverson's painting is inspired by the Port of Seattle's container terminal—represented here by a complex network of overlapping planes and dramatic perspective lines—and its implications of industry and accumulation.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Lake Washington Technical College.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Mary Iverson's paintings explore the balance between the natural world and industrial activities. They inspire conversations about climate change and our complicated relationship with nature. Her main sources of inspiration are close to her home: the beautiful Port of Seattle, and three magnificent National Parks (Mount Rainier, Olympic, and North Cascades National Parks).
Iverson lives and works in Seattle, Washington. She teaches painting and drawing at Skagit Valley College in Mount Vernon, Northwestern Washington.
