ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Tech Town is part of artist Sally Sellers' series of quilts composed with repeating imagery of houses. Sellers began the series after her young daughter was moved from home to a nursing facility due to serious illness. Sellers notes that the body of work was created to challenge the concept of what a home is, and as a meditation on the instincts to nurture and protect. This quilt is composed in a geometric grid and features hand-sewn embellishments of found electronic objects and components.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Tacoma School District.
