ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Sine Qua Non is a hand-beaded quilt by artist Sally Sellers. It explores the importance of the human hand in art and creation. The title refers to a Latin phrase which means "without which there is nothing." Sellers notes "I have since stitched tracings of other objects and filled them with beads, but none, I think, have the impact of the hand."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Fife School District.
