The Other Side of the Shore, 1999
Kathleen Caprario
(American, born 1951)
Location: Olympic College - Shelton, Shelton
ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The Other Side of the Shore is part of a body of paintings by artist Kathleen Caprario featuring landscape images bordered by gold-leafed frames. This decorative frame is stamped with a compass-like pattern. The motif suggests a journey. She notes, "Perspective is used to lead the viewer back into the picture plane- a sensation amplified by the use of atmospheric value and light quality. Eons have passed on this stretch of beach and we, the viewer, can imagine all of it in one glance,"
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Olympic College.
