Whidbey Island-based artist Jan Hoy creates abstract sculptures that explore formal, geometric, and spatial relationships. She works in clay, steel, and bronze. In her own words, "By combining organic forms with a touch of linear I find the perfect counterpoint. My intension is to create forms that are satisfying in shape, simplicity, and balance."
She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Washington in Seattle in 1970. She has taught courses at the University of Washington, Cornish College of the Arts, and Seattle Pacific University (all in Seattle), among other institutions.
