Jovencio de la Paz

(American, born 1986)

Textile artist and professor Jovencio de la Paz explores the relationship between ancient weaving technology and modern computers. They note, "I approach this intersection as a traditionally trained weaver, but also as a digital native."

Jovencio de la Paz received a Master of Fine Art degree in Fibers from the Cranbrook Academy of Art (2012) and a Bachelor of Fine Art degree with an emphasis on Fiber and Material Studies from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2008). They serve as Associate Professor and Head of Fibers at the University of Oregon's College of Design in Eugene. They are also a Zen Buddhist monk.
