Human Rights Month: Forward Together

December is Human Rights Month around the world. This year we celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on December 10th, 1948.

Article One of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights reads:

"All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood."

This selection of artworks from Washington's State Art Collection were chosen for their exploration of human dignity, freedom, justice, equality, and peace.
