ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Columbia Gorge Near Vantage, Wash. is a photograph by artist Dan Powell. He took the image using a large format camera to capture fine details and textures in the landscape. He notes, "My work comes from a personal affiliation with this land, and within that I use the land as a giant studio. Form is of great concern to me, transforming these places into photographs which provide a great deal of information as visual description, but which also deal with the places in a poetic manner."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Washington State Patrol Shared Collection.
