ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Transcendence is a mixed media sculpture by artist Amy Roberts that explores themes of fragility and healing. She notes "The plate glass in the piece is visually fractured and suggests destruction, but is held in place by a burned wood structure which supports the glass and lends integrity once again to the broken shards. I am concerned with the concept that things may be fractured and weak, but simultaneously maintain their wholeness and resilience."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with North Seattle Community College.
