ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Artist and teacher Yee Jan Bao composed the landscape painting Junipers using bold colors, striking contrast, and precise proportions to depict distance and perspective.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Department of Social and Health Services.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Yee Jan Bao (1947-2014) was born in Shanghai, China, and grew up in Uruguay. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Grinnell College in Iowa and his Master of Fine Arts degree from Claremont Graduate School in Southern California. Bao taught design, painting, and drawing at many different institutions including the University of Texas, Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), The Art Institute of Chicago, and California College of the Arts (2003-2014).
