ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Artist Mary Nash painted Omicrom Studio, The MacDowell Colony after returning from a fellowship at the MacDowell Colony in New Hampshire. This self-portrait shows the artist standing outside of her studio there, set among a grove of birch trees. She based the figure in the background on a fellow artist at the colony, composer Harley Gaber.
