(American, born 1948)
Location: Office of Administrative Hearings - Tacoma, Tacoma
ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Verstand , which means "understanding" in German, is part of photographer Cay Lang's "Flower Series." The series depicts discarded flowers retrieved from the San Francisco Flower Mart. Lang's photographs explore the different forms that flowers take when they wilt and decay. Lang notes, "what interested me was that these flowers, whose worth in our culture is based upon their youth and beauty, were no longer considered to be of value."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Washington State Patrol.
