Larry Gray
(American, born 1944)

Location: Olympic College, Bremerton

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

July 24, 1979 is a landscape painting by Larry Gray. Like most of his paintings, it shows a small amount of land at the bottom and a huge expanse of moody sky. It gives us a sense of mystery, maybe even hopefulness or foreboding. Gray’s artworks are not of specific places, they are composites, but "the land is a primary influence."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Olympic College - Bremerton.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Larry Gray creates atmospheric landscape paintings. Many of his works focus on the interplay of color and light in cloud formations. He was born in Columbia, Tennessee. He studied at Yale University in Connecticut and at the University of Georgia.
