ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Artist David Wilson captured the photograph Alabama Hills near Lone Pine, California. The Alabama Hills make up a rock formation located near the east slope of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. Round contours characterize the hills, contrasting distinctly against the backdrop of the mountains.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Clover Park School District.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Northwest photographer David H. Wilson, Jr. creates abstracted landscape compositions that explore manipulated perspectives. This composition style allows the viewer to remove "a startling and original scene from its surroundings."
Wilson grew up in northern Ohio and earned a law degree from the University of Wisconsin. In 1974, he moved to Portland, Oregon, where he practiced law. He has had a lifelong interest and love for birding, canoeing, rafting, and the outdoors.
