ABOUT THE ARTWORK
As the Eagle Flies is a large-scale tapestry created by artist Cecilia Blomberg. Hand-woven using vibrant colors, the composition depicts a birds-eye-view of the lower Columbia River and the surrounding landscape. The tapestry features imagery and forms that remind the viewer of the rich history, culture, and environment of the area. Blomberg notes "the river is the magnet as well as the source of life...our role here is to treasure and protect our fragile environment and pass on our respect to future generations."
