ABOUT THE ARTWORK
'Vertebrae Series-20' is a photograph by artist Earl Olsen. It is part of a series of images created from close-up shots of artist Henry Moore’s bronze sculpture ‘Vertebrae,’ which is located in downtown Seattle. The image feature unusual combinations of shadows and reflected light. The artist notes, “In many of the images I can visualize a flight through space encountering orbiting planets, moons, exploding stars, aging spaceship details…and more. I invite you to let your imagination explore and create its own journey.”
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Big Bend Community College.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Northwest photographer Earl Olsen creates his images to "see the unseen in the commonplace that surrounds us every day." He lives and works on Whidbey Island, Northwestern Washington.
