ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Lituus is a sculpture by artist John Rogers. It is installed under the clear glass roof of the Rainier Science Building at Pierce College – Steilacoom. The title and form of the sculpture refer to the lituus spiral in mathematics. It is made from dichroic glass, which contains multiple colors that change depending on light and the viewer's position.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Pierce College.

Portland, Oregon-based artist John Rogers creates large-scale sculptures for public and private spaces. His colorful artworks are made from a variety of materials including metal, glass, ceramics, stone, cement, and plastic. He graduated from Portland State University in Portland, Oregon.
