ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Stephen Yates created ten abstracted oil paintings for the library of the shared campus of the University of Washington at Bothell and Cascadia Community College. The ten artworks are divided into two categories: the four elements and the four seasons. All four elements -- air, earth, fire, and water -- are reflected within this painting that is titled The Four Elements .
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with University of Washington - Bothell and Cascadia Community College.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Artist Stephen Yates creates paintings with bold, expressive strokes and abstract imagery. Inspired by landscapes, under water life, and the cosmos, his work investigates color relationships and the interaction of forms. Yates lives and works in Port Townsend, on the Olympic Peninsula in Northwestern Washington.
