Karita Coffey

(American | Comanche, born 1947)

Karita Coffey is a Native American artist who creates ceramic sculptures that reference traditional indigenous objects. She is of Comanche heritage. She attended the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe as a teenager, where she later taught ceramics for twenty-five years. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Oklahoma and later completed teaching certification and a Master of Arts in education.
