Louis Hafermehl

(American, born 1916, died 1989)

Artist C. Louis Hafermehl (1916-1989) created expressive landscape and abstract paintings.

Hafermehl was born in Kansas. He studied art at Bethany College in Kansas, the Chicago Art Institute, and at the Art Students League in New York City. He earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting at the Cranbrook Academy of Art. Hafermehl taught art at the University of Washington for twenty-six years, until the early 1980s when he retired to Kansas.
