Earl Miller

(American, born 1930, died 2003)

Artist Earl Miller (1930-2003) created paintings, prints, and mixed media artworks. Miller was active with the Spiral Group, a collective of African American artists who came together in New York City in the 1960s to form a unified artists' response to the Civil Rights struggle. He served as a professor of art at the University of Washington in Seattle from 1969 to the mid-1980s.

Born in Chicago, Miller studied at Roosevelt College and the Illinois Institute of Technology (both in Chicago), the Art Students League of New York, Pratt Institute, Brooklyn Museum School (all three in New York City), and at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts in Germany.
